ABUSED BY MY GP... AND HE FILMED IT
LUCY Banks had been suffering from crippling period pain when her mum Tina insisted she got checked out by their family GP.
Even though she was embarrassed she made an appointment with Dr Davinder Jeet Bains at his Tinkers Lane Surgery in Royal Wootton Bassett, Wilts.
Lucy, 19, had always seen the doctor with Tina, 36, before but this time went in on her own.
She says: "He always seemed patronising, saying things like: 'You're old enough to come in by yourself.'" Lucy, from Gloucester, explained her problem.
"He ordered me to lie on the white bed at the back of the room," says Lucy.
"And then he asked me to remove my top and told me I'd need to take my bra off too. I did as I was told. After all, he was my doctor so I trusted him, but something didn't feel right.
"I clutched my bare chest trying to keep myself covered as Dr Bains examined me. He had his hand on my shoulder and his stethoscope on my breast.
"He then told me to put my top back on, but that he would need to inspect further."
Bains then told Lucy to take off her trousers and and pants for an internal examination.
When she climbed back on the table, he sexually abused her.
Lucy's ordeal continued for more than five minutes before he told her to get dressed.
She says: "As soon as I was dressed I ran outside to my mum's car and burst into tears.
"But I thought maybe I was just overreacting. Months went by and I put my ordeal to the back of my mind. But one day I opened a letter from Wiltshire Police and I felt my stomach drop.
"Dr Bains had been arrested. He was being investigated on suspicion of sexually abusing patients and carrying out unnecessary and inappropriate inspections.
"Police had discovered 361 video clips in which he'd secretly filmed intimate examinations using a hidden camera in his watch.
"There were thought to be hundreds of victims. I was furious. He was my doctor and I'd trusted him."
During the court case at Swindon Crown Court last May Bains, 46, admitted 39 sexual offences against 27 victims aged between 14 and 51. He also aske for a further 65 sexual offences to be taken into consideration.
He was jailed for 12 years and struck off the medical register.
Bains's James Bond-style spywatch was bought off the internet for less than £60.
Lucy says: "I find it difficult to trust men now, let alone a doctor. But I refuse to let Bains win."
